Kyoga SAHs Labs manufactures biodegradable and sustainable superabsorbent hydrogels (SAHs) with the help of cellulose-based polymers, which are biocompatible and non-toxic. With the use of next-generation technology solutions, the Company will be solving the current pain points of the customers involved in agriculture by improving productivity, enhancing the plants’ yield, and reducing the loss of nutrients. It will be using natural char nanoparticles and natural cross-linking to enhance the water retention capacity and slow the release of fertilizer.

Problems To Solve
Only 3% of the world’s water is fresh water, and two-thirds of that is unavailable for our use. More than half the world’s wetlands have disappeared. Climate change is causing shortages and droughts in some areas and floods in others.Agriculture consumes 70% of the world’s available freshwater. However, around 60% of this is wasted due to:
Chemical, or conventional fertilizers, are synthetic products that appear in many forms, such as granular or liquid. About 80% of phosphorus and 40%–70% of the nitrogen in conventional fertilizers cannot be used by crops. Our Solution
To solve the problem of water scarcity, Kyoga SAHs Labs will develop superabsorbent hydrogels (SAHs), which are a promising solution. The Company uses natural char nanoparticles and natural cross-linkers to increase water absorption and retention capacity. The Company will use natural cross-linking mechanism that will increase the number of hydrophilic groups, increasing their dimension after swelling, ultimately increasing soil porosity and providing a better oxygenation to the plant roots. The Company will produce SAHs loaded with fertilizers with the function of slow release of fertilizers which is anticipated to contribute to productivity, nutrient content, and profitability.
